Riley's Farm, to me, was a bummer. But here is our trip. Yesterday My Mom, Mary, Desiree, Ashley, Blake, Dave Dave, Hannah, Katie, and I went. We left around 2:30, my Mom already in a bad mood, catching it on to others. Yelling at me on the phone, telling me she's tired and blah blah. (Sorry Mom, but it's true lol). We were all starving for food, and every time we saw a food place, my Mom missed it and kept driving to hopefully find food soon. We never stopped. We arrived at Riley's, tired from Disneyland the night before, and hungry. We got there around 4:40 I think. We walked around, looking for something to do. Most of the activities were ending at 5, so we couldn't do anything really. We found a store to check in at, and Desiree bought lots of licorice, to try to hold her over til dinner. Everyone was a scavenger asking her for a piece, all dying of hunger. We went to the pumpkin patch, and there were tons of pumpkins. The only problem-most of them were rotting, greenish mold on them, or broken. Not too pretty. We stayed there for around 15 minutes and went to look for something new to do. We hung out on the grassy area by the bathrooms when we saw a donkey walking by. The kids petted it. The grassy area by the bathrooms just happened to be the only spot in the whole place with cell phone reception. Joy. After we pet the donkeys, we just kind of walk around more. Desiree bought more licorice, and some of us bought some water. It was finally 6, time to go in to the dinner place. We waited in line, and waited in line, and waited in line. Finally it was time to go in. We get seated, get our highchairs, and sit down. They were serving small plates (appetizers I guess) of 2 squares of fruit, and half a hot dog sliced up with sauce on it. We each had a plate, still starving. My Mom finds out at this point, she left her car lights on. She goes to turn them off and sees her battery is dead. Cool... An hour went by, and still no food. This was getting ridiculous. We take a 5 minute hay ride. Still no food. We take the kids outside in the back of the dinner place for a bit to play in the grass. By this time I'm cold and hungry. We found out they don't start cooking the food until 6 when we all sat and checked in...there was over 100 meals to cook, and they didn't start til 6?! Finally around 7:30 we get to yell loudly in order to win the first trip to get plates. We all got chicken, a baked potato, corn on the cob, beans, and a roll. Katie loved the beans, and ate mine and Ashley's. She also had some of my chicken and some of my roll. She was covered in beans soon enough. I let her go to town and enjoy herself. They did a terribly boring play, with mostly just 1 actor. By this time, my stomach is starting to hurt, from whatever problem I've developed from my stress. I'm bored, cold, and miserable. The kids are squirmy and want to walk around. Ashley spilled hot apple cider all over her pants. David spilled his on the man next to him. Hannah and Katie get tired and start to fall asleep since all the lights were off during the play. There was finally an intermission so my Mom went to go check on her car. By this point, we're asking if we can just please leave when it gets jumped. Screw the apple pie that they were serving (after the square dancing, pumpkin carving contest, and whatever else they had planned). I didn't feel like staying that long. We had already been there 4 hours, and all we got out of it was dinner, a hay ride, and some cranky kids. My Mom went to go see if they had cables there to jump start her car, and while waiting for them, Blake pushed David and Hannah in the stroller, around the parking lot. Hannah was getting tired, so Mary rocked her in the car, and we put Katie in the stroller. Ashley and I went to see what was taking my Mom so long. When we got back to the parking lot, Blake, Mary, and all 3 kids were in Desiree's car. As we get closer, we open the door to talk to them. They start telling us to get in and close the door, because a bear is walking around out there. Well...Ashley and I saw that "bear" while walking to find my Mom...it was a friendly dog that left us alone...lolol. To end the night just perfectly, my Mom's alarm got all screwed up from having her battery die. Every time the door opened, the alarm would go off for about 5 minutes, loud. Just as the alarm turned off, Mary comes over laughing to tell my Mom something. She opened the door. BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP. My Mom starts driving down the road with her car beeping loudly. It stops and she starts yelling at me to find a phone number, yelling at me for texting in case my phone dies and she needs it (even though she had hers too, and talked to Mary more than half of the drive home). She lost the alarm button that is supposed to turn it off. She harrasses me to find it. I never did. We take Ashley home. BEEP BEEP BEEP. When we get back to my Mom's house, we get out through the window so we don't wake her nerighbors at 11 at night. I don't think I'll ever be returning to Riley's....LOL! At least not with 3 small kids, and without eating first...Funtrip...
