Welcome To Discovery Cube

We had to go to the dentist, yet again, for the last time. Katie was given her last filling this morning, a total of 4 altogether. Katie did really good and was brave, the dentist gave her a sticker book like he promised, and all was well. It was nice of Jennifer to get us in! Since we had to make the drive anyway, I googled and found somewhere fun to take the girls after the appointment. The tickets for Discovery Cube were on sale for $10/person, so I figured why not give it a try.
We stopped by the little kid area first, since it was right when we walked in the door. They had a Clifford set up, it was cute. The kids played on the slide and with the blocks and things.

There were a lot of different sections of the museum, but I think the grocery store was the favorite. The carts had little computer screens on it with a game to get ingredients for a party, picnic, etc based on calories, or healthiness, or economy. You push your cart around and beep the correct price tag. At the end you "checkout" and it tells you your score and if you pass the level. It was pretty cool. Very crowded, but pretty cool. We played many times lol.

Apparently it was lots of fun, because not long after leaving the parking lot, both of my kiddos were knocked out sleeping =) I'm glad they had a fun day. Hard to watch both at such different ages, because they both want to do their own things, but we managed and had a good time together. The only bad thing was the lunch. All healthy organic and not so tasty haha. Plus expensive.

Katie's Braveness

Katie did much better today. She was still a little nervous, but she was ready. She put her brave face on and let the dentist get to work. He only did 2 more today, I was bummed. Now I was going to have to make the hour drive one more time. I was hoping to get this over with in 2 visits. Guess we'll be coming down one more time! It was really nice of Jennifer to fit us in though, so it'll be okay. Katie is getting all her work done free of charge =)

Katie's Dentist Scare

I took Katie to Jennifer's dentist to get her fillings, since I was not about to pay $400. She has 4 cavities in between her teeth, so maybe we need to floss more. Katie brought her teddy bear for support, since she was a little scared. David and I may have warned her that there may be a needle to numb her. I didn't want her to freak out when we got there and she saw it. But she did freak out, and she cried and said she can't go through with it. It took me over an hour to talk her into trying it and seeing how it is before she decides to let her teeth rot forever without a filling. She finally calmed down enough and let the dentist do his job after he promised to give Jennifer a gift to give her after she was finished. She did good. She realized it wasn't so bad after it was all done, which is good, because we have to come back tomorrow to do the other side of her mouth. We only got through 1 today =/ She has 3 more to go. After we drove back home, we went to see my Grandma's new bike that she bought with her birthday money. Pretty fancy! Katie took it for a spin, but it was big for her.

Dentist Time

Katie had a dentist appointment this morning, so she was late to school. They found four cavities and wanted to charge me $400 =/ Thinking that was a bit steep, considering my insurance is pretty decent, I called my sister-in-law who works at a dentist office. She said to come to her office instead. We're going to try that when school gets out, since it's a drive.

My baby's cuddles. Pretty soon she'll be too big for this. As it is, it rarely happens anymore. I let her lay on me. She's cute.
She also still comes into my bed once in a while when she wakes up too much during the night, this helps her sleep better. And sometimes I get to sleep in longer too :p

1st Dentist Appointment

Katie's first dentist appointment. How exciting. Every parent feels like their kid is growing up when they go to their first dental appointment. The Army insurance we have wouldn't let us go before she was 4. I didn't know that kid didn't NEED to go to the dentist before 4. But I guess it makes sense, if they take care of their teeth. It's not like little kids drink soda or anything worse than watered down juice at this age, so their teeth can't be too bad, right?

Can you guess how upset I was, when they told me I can't be in the room with her? They said it's their policy, so the kids won't cry for their parents or something. If it was in a room with a door, and I couldn't see her from my seat 30 feet away, I would not have let her stay. So I took my picture, and went to go wait until they were done. How annoying.
The good news is, Katie has 0 cavities, and they said she is such a happy child. I knew that. She's amazing. Way to go, Katie!
