Second Grade Carnival

Today was the end of the year carnival at Katie's school. Our 3rd one so far. I usually just follow her around and let her do what she wants to do. Every year so far, the kids have been able to dress down if they wear Hawaiian clothes, so she got fancy before we left the house. We found a few cute things at Party City for her to wear. She tried the rock climbing, but she couldn't get up one spot that a lot of kids were having trouble with and gave up after getting a few feet off the ground. Maybe next year when her legs are longer she can try again. Her friend Peyton hung out with her most of the morning, they were doing the same booths together and having a fun day. It was getting pretty hot though, and I had a doctor appointment right after, so we left a few minutes early. Not too much. She ended the carnival by going down the water slide to cool down a little bit and put her feet in a pool haha. Emma knocked out in the wagon, she must have been hot too. I'm glad I brought big ice waters for us to drink! This is going to be a hot summer!

My Great Reader

Not only did Katie's school have a dress down day today, but they also called me a few days ago to let me know that Katie would be receiving an award from the Library. My Mom and I went to Katie's chapel to sit with her and watch her go on stage. Of course Emma came too. Katie's award was 2nd place for reading the most words out of the second grade. They go based off of her AR reading. All the books she read that were her level, that she took tests on, were added up. She did amazing and even won a $5 gift card for Barnes & Noble to be able to buy a new book =) When we got home, we saw a package came. Emma's new swing! She was so excited she was sitting in it, waiting for Daddy to get home and hook it up to the playground for her. Katie also had her yearbook today when we went back to pick her up. Super cool. I loved getting my yearbook when I was in school. Katie looked through it the whole way home. Katie was in it for her class photo and the club she joined during the winter, Cooking Club. The girls played outside on the playground while Dad hooked up the new swing. Emma couldn't wait to try it out. She was so happy in it. She wanted to go "high" lol. Now she can finally swing without me having to bend halfway down to make sure she doesn't fall off haha. Or worry about her jumping off the yellow board swing while I'm pushing her. Nice addition to the backyard! Just what we needed.

There's A Fire In The Furnace

Katie's Spring Performance is There's a Fire in the Furnace. The Spring show is always only during chapel time, not at night, so it's not as big a deal as the Christmas one, but a lot of parents still try to show up. I've never missed one yet. They were all told to wear red, yellow, and orange to look like fire. It was very hard to find those colors in the spring, but we managed to snag a red shirt. Cute songs, the kids did good. After school we went to Barnes & Noble and the kids read some books. They were adorable laying next to each other.

Second Grade Open House

I love Katie's school events, and Open House is a good one. I always come early and we have dinner in the cafeteria before the classroom doors open. The Cheer team is usually selling desserts too, so we always buy a brownie or something for a dollar. Then we go look around Katie's classroom and look at her art on the walls. The girl she drew that looks like her this year, is adorable. We end the night with a trip to the Library where the Book Fair is held. Katie always gets a few books to read. I enjoy it. We had a good time.

Second Grade Jog-A-Thon

Time for the yearly Jog-A-Thon! I hate this event, lol. Oh well, I'll show my school spirit. I feel like it's too much for the kids to run 25 laps in the heat, but, at least it's only once a year. Since Katie's a Cheer Bear this year, she performed before the run. She did a great job, I'm proud of her. Of course my Mom cheated for Katie again, marking off more than 1 lap each time she came around, lol. She gets too tired and hot, and starts walking, which is fine, but then she'll be last and I mean, very last. haha.

After the run, the kids get Popsicles every year.
 The famous hot dog lunch.
Emma was given a couple extra snacks too :p
After the lunch, the kids were able to go home, due to the work out and how tired it makes them. It's nice to have Katie out early sometimes, I feel like I never get to spend enough time with her while she's in school during the week. I love that girl.

Katie's 2nd Grade Christmas Performance

My baby girl is preforming the Christmas performance today that she has worked on in school for the past few months. I have heard her singing Country Boys for too long, glad to see it coming to an end haha. Her school sends us all the songs on Dropbox so the kids can learn them better and work on them at home. I have the whole song list for her on my phone, and she takes advantage of it!! lol. She wore a beautiful Christmas dress and sang her heart out. She did great!
I'm so thankful for all the family that came out to see her =) So much love and support, I hope that's what she feels when she sees everyone in the audience. Her Grandpa and Steven were there too, but I couldn't find them for photos after the show.

Thankfully Emma was behaved enough that I could watch the show :p My little rascal baby <3 br="">

DCS Cheerleading Parade

Katie was in the Lancaster Christmas Parade with her Cheer Squad. David, Emma, my Mom, Mary and I went to cheer her on. Waiting for her to get to us was the hard part :p

Because she is in the younger squad, they were able to ride on the bus instead of walking the whole way. When Katie got to me, I thought something was wrong, she gave us a sad face and pointed to her throat. I was afraid she was sick or something. After the parade was over, I went to her to see if she was okay. She was thirsty. Crazy girl had me worried. Next time I'll be sure to pack a water bottle for her, lol.
It was cute. I wish I could have seen her better, but I know she would have gotten tired walking the whole way anyway. They looked cute in their new sweatshirts. Smart idea to wear those, since they would be cold in their uniforms. Proud of my girl.

First Grade Carnival

Katie's school had their annual school carnival, to celebrate school ending for the year. It's pretty neat for the kids to have. They give them free snacks (popcorn, nachos, ice cream, snow cones, cupcakes, juice, etc) and have games set up around the field for them to play. You can bring money to try and dunk a teacher in the Dunk Tank, and just walk around hanging out with everyone. We've never stayed the whole time, and had lunch with the class, but we've always enjoyed walking around for a few hours together, doing everything.

Mr. Pigg's Barbeque Emporium

Katie has been practicing her songs for this performance, even David and I have caught ourselves singing her favorite song haha. We were told to dress in black and white, no dresses =/ The kids did a great job on their performance. A lot of people couldn't make it, since it was in the morning during work hours, but my Mom, Emma, and I were there for her. I go to as many things as I can. I like that she can look in the audience and see me there smiling at her. I love Katie so much. She's a wonderful girl.

The Firm Foundational Non-Denominational Tabernacle Temple of Glory! Haha, Katie's favorite lyric.

Katie's 1st Grade Christmas Performance

After we decorated our tree, we got ready for Katie's Christmas show. She had to miss Girl Scouts tonight, but it was well worth it to see her perform on stage. Her Grandma's and Grandpa and Gee Gee came too =) She was so funny up there! She was playing with her friends, making shadows on the wall, hilarious. I love her fun spirit. She was definitely entertaining to say the least.
Peeking in the baptizing pool, haha.
A couple high school kids came to help be in their play too.
Good job, Katie! You did great!
She got a candy cane for doing good =)

A Preview Of Christmas

Each of the grades usually do a Christmas performance each year at Katie's school. Katie's class did a practice performance this morning during chapel. David has school the night of the actual performance, so he came to watch her this morning with me instead. She did great, and she looked beautiful. I had a hard time finding her something to wear, an e-mail was sent out saying no dresses/jackets/scarves/gloves/etc. But I really wanted a dress =/ It was hard to find something beautiful with so many restrictions, but we tried this long tutu shirt that looks like a dress, with leggings under, and they approved it =) Yay!

I love my girl.

End Of The Year Carnival

Katie's school has an end of the year carnival each year (I believe) and this year was Katie's first. I was able to take time off work and go with her =) They all had a dress down day if you wear Hawaiian. I didn't really have much for Katie, so I bought a lei and improvised! :p

My co-worker's (Maria) husband was in the dunking booth. He is the PE teacher there for 1st grade and up.
They had some fun booths set up for the kids, and everything was free, including the snacks (popcorn, snow cones, nachos). Pretty cool.

You go around, and when the music stops, a number is called. If you're standing in front of the number that's called, you win a cupcake =) You get to play as long as you want, until you win!

Pretty fun day! Love being there for Katie.

Thanks for reading my blog!
